Marc Jacobs Mask Sunglasses

Daphne Guinness puts her biggest and best jumbo-feet forward, but what do you think of Alexander McQueen's creations?

When the couture collector and heiress, Daphne Guinness, donned a pair of British designer, Alexander McQueen’s metallic ‘monster shoes’ for a party in New York recently, did she really and truly put her foot in it, style-wise? Or was she just hoping to steal a socking great march on all the other celebrity fashionistas by making one giant step for womankind?

The models who had to teeter along the catwalk in these bizarre creations, made in fibreglass and python, and measuring 12 inches from ankle to sole, at McQueen’s show in Paris last month, were paid, to do so.

Ms Guinness, on the other hand, ordered her own pair custom-made, in metallic-flesh tone leather, and seemingly wore them just for love, as no details of the cost of the fiendish footwear are available.

The monstrous boots were the finishing touch to McQueen’s collection for next spring/summer, inspired by Darwin’s Theory of Evolution.

Nina Ricci's Shoes

Take a look at the heel-less, stilt-like shoes at Nina Ricci. Fabulously creative, right? The sky-high height combines platform and stilettos, adding about eleven inches to the already leggy models. And the careful detailing makes them even more distinctive (not that the shoes need it) — some feature laces, buckles, rhinestones, and satin. From what we can tell, not one model fell, which proves the theory that heel-less shoes are easy to walk in. Now that's the power of platforms. And gravity.

Frontless Shoes

There is something missing with the experimental shoe designs by Annejet Kosters… the entire front! Her airy designs are sure to please those who like to go barefoot but still hanker for heels.

The Golden Heel is exactly that. The shoe consists of a golden heel with an ankle wrap strap. The Billy is a black boot affair with front lacings with a rounded heel and no front!

Eye-catching shoes with killer heels!
