Raphael Young

Raphael Young is taking things up a notch. With a well-built team of partners in key cities from New York to Tokyo, marketing and PR headquarters in Paris and a devoted cult following around the world, Young is positioned to leverage his fanatical following into a truly global footwear business.

Young was first inspired to design shoes at the tender age of 14 after attending his first haute couture show. Trained under his uncle Alexandre Narcy, who was the head of Yves Saint Laurent's shoe studio for 40 years, he even received some key advice from Mr. Laurent himself: "keep it simple." He went on to work at various design houses in Italy before starting his own line.

These days, Young pays close attention to balance, proportion and physics as he handcrafts his own wooden lasts, which are paired with a proprietary sole material. The resulting comfort factor makes fashionistas salivate. His fierce Barbarella-inspired designs feature aggressive Space Age architectural silhouettes paired with gleaming metallic leathers and a genius take on the almond shaped toe box. All you have to do is put a pair on to rule the world.

New Baby-G candy Colors

Stylish 80s headphones from AiAiAi

Bring some bright 80s chic to your ears with these Tracks headphones modelled on old Walkman headphones. They have the same one piece brace and separate ear cups as the old Sony originals,

AiAiAi is a Danish design house that specialises in audio technology and so the sound specifications are good too: the latest speaker driver technology, a craftsman finish and 40mm speakers mean the Tracks produce high-end sound with impressive depth.

Big "on-ear" headphones are staging a comeback... sure they're harder to fit in your handbag, but the sound can be better and they are becoming a fashion item in themselves. Helped of course by design labels making special edition versions.
Available in the basic colours of black, cream and peach, the slider connecting the ear cup and the brace comes in three sets of different colours for customization. Compatible with all 3.5mm jack phones including iPhone and Blackberry.

LEGO 3MP Digital Camera

Are you a mixer? Or do you keep yourself to yourself? Do you fling yours in with everyone else's? Or do you prefer to guard your collection and make a wall around you? Do you wish that we could all just put our differences aside and build something monumental together?! No, we're not flying the flag of pop-psychology in an attempt to flog cameras, we're talking about Lego.

Many a year has passed since the days of throwing all your Lego sets in the middle of the room and attempting to build something epic, but that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy it in grown-up land. The Lego Digital Camera is a beautiful object for kids and adults alike, so whether you're making sure your little ones grow up with the RIGHT toys or taking a trip down memory lane yourself, this is the digital camera for you. With 3 megapixel detail and 4 x digital zoom, it's pretty competent, but the opportunity to incorporate it into your Lego sculptures is too good to miss.

It's got a 1.5" LCD screen so you can have a look at what you've snapped, and will hold up to 80 photos. When you've taken them, you can simply transfer them to your computer via USB, just like any other digital camera. Of course, the specs aren't quite the point of this beautiful little jaunt down the hallways of your childhood, it's the idea. Even though it is supremely functional, there's nothing cooler than building up a Lego fortress and managing to slip this camera in unnoticed, ready to photograph anyone who wants to spoil your fun (grown-ups, other halves with no sense of humour). Simply one of our favourite digital cameras available.

  • A fully-functioning 3 megapixel Lego digital camera.
  • 4 x digital zoom.
  • Built-in flash and fixed focus.
  • 1.5" LCD screen for viewing photos.

A century of dogs in Vogue

Jean Shrimpton and her Yorkshire terrier puppy Bertie, photographed by Eugene Vernier in 1963, feature in the book. Right: A canine-inspired T-shirt design by Christopher Kane

‘Never work with animals or children,’ was the stern advice from the legendary comedian, W C Fields. A glance through a recently-published book, however, will reveal just how important it is to share the stage with our four-legged friends.

Dogs in Vogue, by Judith Watt, chronicles the story of how pooches and poodles, borzois and bull terriers (among others), have shared their moment in the fashion spotlight

For 100 years, they have had a role to play in the story of Vogue, as companions to leaders of style and society, devoted pets of royalty, celebrities, fashionistas and artists. From the Duchess of Sutherland and her Pekinese in January, 1917, to Vivienne Westwood with her wire-haired fox terrier, Alexandra, in 1997, and Naomi Campbell, with her Yorkshire terrier, Dolce, in 2007, the book demonstrates how dogs have posed and pranced through the pages of the world’s most famous and influential fashion glossy.

The photographs document an era of canine chic: magnificent German shepherds and Great Danes, elegant Afghan hounds, pugs, poodles and Pekinese; the Duchess of Newcastle with her borzois; Marc Jacobs with his English bull terrier, Alfred; Jean Shrimpton with her Yorkshire terrier, Bertie; the supermodel Nadja Auermann with three Chinese crested hairless dogs.

“The next best thing to having the world at your feet is to have a dog at your heels,” Vogue wrote in 1930. “They are the only friends that money can buy. They are philosophers and scamps, mystics, snobs and saints. Some are at home on a satin cushion while others amiably fit anywhere."

Should a three year-old girl be wearing high heels?

Playing dress-up in ‘mummy’s’ high heels, three or four sizes too big, and tottering around the bedroom is one thing.

But actually going out in public in your own pair of heels when you’re three years old? Surely that is taking dressing-up a few inches too far, even for a celebrity toddler.

Yet, Suri Cruise, the world’s most famous tot, seems to be making a habit of her heels. The daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, who will be four next April, has twice been spotted on outings with her mother, wearing stack-heeled, T-bar shoes, with peep-toes. I suppose we should be grateful her toe nails weren’t painted bright red!

Katie Holmes has already responded to criticism from parenting groups, by telling Access Hollywood that the heels were not doing Suri any harm.
